This half day Bangkok tour visits two of the most important monuments in Bangkok. The Grand Palace which is one of the most visited sites in Thailand, and the Wat Po which is home to the Reclining Buddha.
After meeting your guide at the pier your first stop in central Bangkok is the Grand Palace. This is without a doubt a must-see site for every visitor. It is, in fact, one of the most visited sites in all of Thailand. The palace was the official home to the Kings of Siam (now Thailand) from 1782 until 1925. The current king lives in a different palace but the Grand Palace is still used for several official royal functions each year.
The palace complex sits on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and consists of buildings, halls and pavilions set around large lawns, gardens and courtyards. Your visit includes the magnificent throne halls and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This temple (or wat) is considered the most sacred of all Buddhist Temples in Thailand.
Next you visit Wat Po, the oldest temple in Bangkok which sits adjacent to the Grand Palace. This temple is the home to the 160 foot long awe inspiring reclining Buddha. Many people consider this the first University of Thailand because it was the first school of traditional medicine in Thailand, and the founding place of Thai massage.
After visiting these two prominent sites in Bangkok, you return to the pier.
