TOUR DESCRIPTION

Valencia Shore Excursion

This half day Valencia tour allows you to see the architectural heritage in Valencia, Spain's third largest city. The styles range from ancient Roman to Art Nouveau and ultra modern. You enjoy photo stops at many of the city's must see sights.

After meeting your guide you start your tour with a photo stop at one of contemporary works of Santiago Calatrava, the City of the Arts and Sciences. This futuristic educational complex houses Europe's largest aquarium, a science museum, an opera house, an IMAX snd much more. The complex is also known as the City of the 21st Century.

Next you enjoy a ride through the Turia Gardens which is a lush oasis located in the old riverbed of the Turia River. Once you are in the heart of the city you see the Plaza de la Reina, where you will discover the religious quarter of Valencia. The Cathedral of Valencia was built on the site of a Roman temple which later became a mosque and then eventually in the 13th century a church. You will see styles from Gothic to Romanesque and Baroque. The octagonal Miguelete Tower is the church's bell tower, also dating the the 13th century.

Before the tour is complete you see the Gothic Lonja (Silk Exchange) which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And close by is also the city's central market. Located in an Art Nouveau building, this is the largest marketplace in Europe.

At the end of the tour you are brought back to the pier.

Option - If you are interested it is possible to include a stop at the Lladro Porcelain Factory. The factory was founded by a family in 1953, and became one of the most famous Valencian companies around the world, thanks to their exquisite porcelain figures. Including this will make other photo stops more brief.

Mobility: Folding wheelchairs OK, some sites may be inaccessible (advance notice required)
