This private Amsterdam shore trip visits to Hidden Gems in the Netherlands, Giethoorn and Elburg. These two charming towns are well known for their picturesque scenery and rich history. In Giethoorn you enjoy a canal cruise past historic thatched-roof houses and then you enjoy lunch and free time in the former fishing village of Elburg. This is an excellent tour to avoid the mass tourism of Amsterdam.
After meeting your guide at you start the drive into the countryside until you reach Giethoown which is often referred to as the "Venice of the North.” The charming town does not allow vehicles so you park outside the village and walk in to explore its small canals lined with quaint thatched-roof houses. The town is a serene escape where bicycles and boats are the primary modes of transport and exploring on a canal cruise is the premier way to go. Sometime the town starts to see crowds in the afternoon so we will depart late this morning for our next stop.
Elburg is a historic fishing village with well-preserved medieval architecture. It offers a glimpse into the Netherlands’ maritime past, characterized by its old harbor and fortified walls. You will have free time for lunch (meal not included) and then you can take some time to stroll through the cobblestone streets, visit local shops, and enjoying the harbor views. If you are interested the guide can show you the Elburg Museum, the old city gates, and the beautiful St. Nicholas Church.
Later this afternoon you will return to the pier in Amsterdam having enjoyed both Giethoorn and Elburg.
