This
Bergen walking tour is a perfect introduction to the charming city of Bergen. During the tour you visit the famous Fish and Flower Market, the old Bryggen Harbor with its gabled pack-houses and the popular Hanseatic Quarter.
After meeting you guide you start your tour at the fish and flower market which has been the historical center of the fish trade in Bergen. The market gives you an idea of what the locals eat and there are usually free samples of items such as whale and salmon caviar.
Next you explore the Bryggen Harbor which dates back to Bergen being a member of the Hanseatic League. From the middle of the 14th century until the middle of the 18th century this area was used as a Hansa dock for trading and processing of goods. The wooden houses that are here are about 300 years old and many of them are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strolling the narrow alleyways between the storefronts gives you the feeling of medieval Bergen.
Another sight that is important to see is St. Mary's Church which is the oldest building in Bergen, dating back to the 12th century. It is the best preserved of the city's three medieval churches.
