This half day Bilbao shore trip allows you to visit the Guggenheim Museum which is Bilbao's most popular attraction. After your museum visit you have a driving tour of the modern city and if time is available you can walk through the old town.
Bilbao is the capital of Vizcaya, one of the three Spanish Basque provinces. The origin of the city is said to be the historical port, which was located in what today is an area called the Arenal, a few steps from the Casco Viejo (the Old Town).
Bilbao first became a tourist destination when the railway between Bilbao and the coastal neighborhood of Getxo opened in 1872. But the real burst of tourism began with the opening of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in 1997. Now about 650,000 visitors go to the museum each year. Your tour starts at the museum and the amount of time spent at the museum will depend upon your interests. An express visits lasts about 1 hour but most people end up spending about 2 hours.
After visiting the Guggenheim the balance of the tour will be based on the amount of time spent in the museum. Thanks to its history and location, Bilbao is a magnificent mixture of architecture, tradition, sea and mountain, character and history. Possibly you'd enjoy a driving tour to see some of the architecture or maybe you would prefer to stroll the old town.
At the end of the tour, your guide will take you back to the pier.
