After meeting your guide at the pier in Cobh you depart for the lovely town of Kinsale. Upon arrival your first stop is the Charles Fort, one of the best remaining examples of a 17th Century star-shaped fort. The fort has five large bastions either overlooking the estuary or facing inland. The fort was used by the British Army until 1922.
Next you go into the charming village where you can stroll the colorful streets to visit local shops and boutiques plus enjoy free time to enjoy lunch (meal not included). Many Irish people consider Kinsale the gourmet capital of Ireland.
Later this afternoon you return to the port city to enjoy a driving tour of Cork. You will see historic landmarks such as City Hall, St. Finbarr's Cathedral, St. Patrick's Street and St. Anne's Cathedral. Depending on your interests and time available you might be able to enjoy a stop at the famous English Market. The origins of this covered market selling fish, fruit, meat and vegetable can be traced back to James 1st in 1610, but the present building dates from 1786. If you are a fan of your local farmer's market, you are certain to enjoy this experience.
At the end of the day you are brought back to the pier in Cobh.
