This
Hamburg shore trip allows you to see Hamburg's Top 10 sites in a short time. You enjoy a driving tour of the city and then a stop at a popular caf̩ for a sweet treat. This is an excellent option for those who prefer limited walking.
Hamburg is the second largest metropolis in Germany and one of the
biggest ports in Europe. Elegant and cosmopolitan, Hamburg is now a city
of palatial office buildings, magnificent promenades and extravagant
shopping malls, plus the famous Reeperbahn in St. Pauli. The magical
aura of far-away places is still alive in the Warehouse Quarter with its
little canals. Hamburg is also the greenest city in Germany with its
many spacious lawns and parks.
After meeting your guide you will embark on a panoramic tour which
gives you the opportunity to see the highlights of this bustling city
such as the City Hall (1), the oldest Stock Exchange in Germany (2), the
Speicherstadt (3), the century old warehouse quarter which was built
in Gothic redbrick architecture and houses fine spices, coffee and tea
from all over the world, as well as the Jungfernstieg (4), one of the
elegant and luxury shopping areas. Your tour will also take you around
the Aussen-Alster (5), which is one of the top addresses in Hamburg and
includes elegant private residences, numerous consulates and renowned
businesses.
You will drive past the St. Pauli Landungsbruecken (6), where the old
sailing vessels used to dock and then continue your journey along the
world famous Reeperbahn (7), where at the beginning of the 17th century
the Reepers made rigs. Nowadays this street together with the Grosse
Freiheit and Herbert Strasse are referred to as the mile of sin and are a
well know attraction worldwide as The Beatles began their career here
in 1962.
Your tour will also include a visit to the St. Michaels Church (8),
which was destroyed a number of times in the past, but then always
reconstructed. Also known as the Michel by the locals, this church is
the largest North German Baroque church and is Hamburgs main landmark.
Continue walking across to the Kramer Amts Stuben (9), which was an
earlier form of widow housing and take a leisurely stroll through this
small district.
Your tour will continue to the Elbvororte (10) suburbs of the river
Elbe, Hamburgs most up-market and luxurious residential areas, where
former captains, pilots and other seaman reside. If time allows you will
be taken for a short walk through one of these picturesque residential
areas with its many pretty, old villas, half-timbered houses and typical
German One-Family-Homes.
At the end of a tour you stop at one of the most popular hang-out places in Hamburg for locals and visitors alike. Here you enjoy some typical German cake with coffee or tea.
Finally, you will be taken back to the pier.
