The port of La Rochelle is mainly a commercial port, plus there are many private sailing ships, so there are very few services available for large ocean cruise passengers. The town of La Rochelle is located about 15 minutes from the port. Due to security reasons it is very difficult to get a taxi from the cruise pier. However, the tourist board often offers a shuttle from the port into town for about $10 per person. If the shuttle will be available on the day of your visit, the cruise line will announce it either the night before or early in the morning.
