TOUR DESCRIPTION

London, England - This tour starts in London or at the Heathrow Airport. You enjoy a tour of Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world, and then visit the prehistoric monument known as Stonehenge before being dropped off in Southampton.

After meeting your guide in London, you immediately depart for Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. This castle has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years. The Queen spends most of her private weekends at Windsor and has certain periods throughout the year when she has extended stays. In addition to being her home, the Queen uses the castle for ceremonial and State functions.

St George's Chapel is located within the Castle Precincts and is the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, the oldest order of chivalry in the world. Dating back to the 14th century, today the Order consists of The Queen, The Prince of Wales and 24 Knight Companions.

A typical tour at Windsor Castle includes the State Apartments, the Drawings Gallery, Queen Mary's Dolls House and St George's Chapel. However, Windsor Castle is a working royal palace and therefore security and opening arrangements may be subject to change with little or no notice.

Next you drive into the town of Windsor where you have a short break to enjoy lunch (meal not included).

Next you visit the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge. This prehistoric monument is one of the most important in the world, dating back an astonishing 5,000 years. The monument stands on a small mound in a vast plain in the countryside, not far from Salisbury. You can't help feeling excitement and perhaps a little fear about this mysterious site whose exact purpose is unknown. As you walk around the stones and learn about their mystery you will be surprised at their large size.

Finally you drive to the pier in Southampton.
