This
London day trip visits the birthplace and hometown of William Shakespeare. Stratford Upon Avon is one of the most popular and charming towns in all of England and you will understand why after your visit.
After meeting your guide you immediately embark on your journey to discover Shakespeare's life and hometown. When you arrive in Stratford Upon Avon, you visit the house where William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and re-enter the Tudor world. The house offers visitors a fascinating insight into life as it was when Shakespeare was a child.
After a break for lunch (meal not included) you visit Trinity Church, which dates from the early 13th century. Shakespeare was both baptized and buried in Holy Trinity Church, on the Banks of the Avon. The privilege of burial within the church arose not from his fame as a playwright but from the fact that he owned a share of the tithe income privileges when Henry VIII abolished the College of Cardinals in Britain. With the privilege came the duty of employing a priest and looking after the Chancel as well as the right of burial here. His wife, Ann Hathaway, daughter Susanna, son-in-law Dr. John Hall and Thomas Nash (first husband of his granddaughter Elizabeth) are all buried beside him.
If time is available you have some free time to explore and or shop. At the end of your tour, you return to your hotel in London.
