This half day
Marseille shore trip enjoys splendid views as you travel along the seaside cliff between La Ciotat and Cassis. Once you are in Cassis you have some free time to savor the good life of the Mediterranean and if you like, you can take a boat trip to the Calanques.
After meeting your driver guide in Marseille you drive along the famous cliff road to Cassis. The road reaches an altitude of about 1,200 feet above the sea level offering dramatic views and leading you into Cassis.
Cassis is a small but gorgeous port city which was once a bustling fishing village. It has become a very popular destination for Europeans to visit in the spring and fall so they can enjoy the moderate Mediterranean climate in this scenic resort town. It's lovely natural setting allows you to see rolling vineyards, olive trees, beaches, and the amazing Calanques. These fjord like white cliffs create small bays along the blue coast line.
While you are in Cassis you have free time where you might choose to shop the boutiques, visit a local art gallery or sample local white and rose wines in one of the many chic cafes. On Wednesday and Friday there are wonderful open air markets in the town's square. Many people enjoy taking a boat cruise (not included) to see some of the most dramatic Calanques.
At the end of your excursion, your driver guide will take you back to Marseille.
