This Palma de Mallorca shore trip visits the stunning Cuevas del Drach, or Caves of the Dragon, one of the most popular sites on the island. You also enjoy a stop at a local Pearl Factory.
After meeting your guide you drive to Porto Cristo, which is located on the other side of the island. Porto Cristo is a small fishing village and you enjoy a short stop there before visiting the Cave of the Dragon.
Hidden inside the caves is one of the largest subterranean lakes in the world. You enjoy a boat ride on the lake as you listen to classical music. This cave system was first discovered in 1878 and today it is without doubt one of the island's most outstanding attractions. You will be taken through most chambers of the underground cave system which is over a mile long and in some places the height of the caves are over 75 feet high. You will marvel at the spectacular rock formations reflected in water pools and lakes. Stalagmites and stalactites form a continuous display of fantastic patterns in cave after cave. The unequaled beauty of the caves is further enhanced by the lighting.
On the return trip to Palma, you have a short stop to see one of the islands pearl factories. Pearls have been produced here since the late 1890s. Your guide will explain the production and you have a chance to see some of the beautiful items which are the result. If you would prefer, it is possible to visit a craft workshop dedicated to goods made by olive wood or a glass blowing workshop.
