Rotterdam Shore Excursion - The focus of this tour is The Hague. In addition to a panoramic tour you visit the Mauritshuis Museum, the Panorama Mesdag, the Miniature City of Madurodam and the famous beach resort of Scheveningen.
After meeting your private guide you drive to the Hague, the third
largest city in the Netherlands and the seat of the Dutch Government.
Your first stop is at the famous Mauritshuis Museum. The museum's
collection consists of approximately 800 paintings, 50 miniatures, 20
sculptures plus drawings and prints. The most famous piece is Vermeer's
'The Girl with the Pearl Earring'.
After visiting the museum you have a driving tour of the Hague where you will see the Parliament House, the
Queen's Palace, the International Court of Justice and more. You enjoy a stop at the famous Panorama Mesdag. This panorama is a
cylindrical painting which is about 45 feet high and about 360 feet in
circumference. You view it from an observation gallery in the center of
the room. The cylindrical perspective gives the illusion that you are on
a sand dune overlooking the sea and beaches of Scheveningen Village in
1885.
Next
you enjoy a stop at that popular beach resort of Scheveningen. You can
stroll on the long pier which extends well into the Baltic sea, enjoy a
walk on the promenade which is lined with shops and have lunch in one of the many cafes.
Later this afternoon you continue your tour to the Miniature City of Madurodam where you see all the important buildings of the Netherlands made in miniature scale. Its a very busy city where all the miniature trains, boats, cars and trucks race. Even the planes want to take off.
At the end of the excursion you are brought back to the pier in Rotterdam.
