This Salerno shore trip allows you to travel a section of the Amalfi Coast and spend about 4 hours of free time in the resort town of Amalfi, making this an excellent option for those who would like to explore Amalfi in depth.
After meeting your driver guide you start driving along the coast until you reach Amalfi, which legend says, was created by Hercules to be the most beautiful setting possible for the final resting place of a beautiful nymph he loved. History tells us that the Romans
built the town in the 5th century AD.
You have about 4 hours to explore the town of Amalfi which sits in a large ravine near the coast but at the base of Cerreto. This situation creates a town with sloping streets and some that are even made of stairs. There is time to visit the church, wander the narrow streets for photos, do some shopping and enjoy a typical Mediterranean lunch.
Another option is to explore the town of Amalfi for a couple hours and then visit a local restaurant along the coast, during your drive back to Salerno.
Take time to notice the Oriental touches in the architecture that are common here including the often photographed bell tower and stone arches that look as if they were made of lace.
After your free time in Amalfi you return to Salerno.
Mobility: Folding wheelchair OK, some sites may be inaccessible (advance notice required)
