This Santa Cruz de Tenerife shore trip visits the popular resort town of Puerto de la Cruz including the lush Botanical Gardens located nearby. Also included is a photo stop of Mount Teide.
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and it sits close to the western coast of Africa. The island is dominated by the Teide Volcano and famous for its lush tropical vegetation on the northern side of the island, which is where Puerto de la Cruz is located.
After meeting your guide you drive across the island in the direction of Puerto de la Cruz. During your drive you have a photo stop to view some of the island's beautiful vegetation which can be seen from the Humbold Viewpoint. From here you have an incredible view of the lovely Orotava Valley with Mount Teide in the background.
Next is a stop at the island's popular Botanical Garden. These gardens were created in the 18th century when Spain wanted to find a location to have species of plants which could be found throughout its territories. This island's temperate tropical location was the perfect spot. The subtropical and tropical plants found here are not only beautiful but also well known for their size, rarity and remote places of origin.
After visiting the gardens you have free time in the resort town of Puerto de la Cruz. This is a popular shopping area for the island and also home to the beautiful Lago Martianez lido. The island does not have many good beaches so this man made lagoon is a popular stop which includes white sand, palm trees and fountains.
Mobility: Folding wheelchair OK, some sites may be inaccessible (advance notice required)
